Our Four Pillars of Focus

Transparency

Assisting adoptable dogs that are frequently overlooked due to their size, strength, age, and other factors can be difficult. We plan to overcome some of these obstacle's by sharing the animal's journey through photos and videos that will be taken with safety, stress and morals in mind. We want to show the real personalities, the challenges the dogs will go through, and we will as a rescue not just their cutest take.

Training

With a goal to help the dogs adjust to home life, we will be allocating resources to help dogs become comfortable with crate training, being around basic life sounds like sirens, TV noises, visitors and other dogs. With a open concept facility in mind we plan to utilize consistent positive reinforcement and kibble training to help with barking and reactivity in a more home-build foster facility concept!

Community

Curating a network of supportive fosters, adopters, rescues, shelters, trainers and veterinarians will take more than two, become part of what we hope to build! The goal is to establish a COMMUNITY of trustworthy and ethical adaptors, fosters, rescues, non-profits, businesses, and impact driven animal loving advocates that operate through education, innovation and role model behaviors themselves.

Events

We plan to leverage our experience, knowledge, and creativity to host and sponsor more dog-friendly events with a purpose! From advocation of responsible dog owners, to dog training seminars to adoption events or fundraisers for not just the rescue, but for our dog loving community as well! Be apart of the next even by reaching out NOW and asking to get involved!

What does DBS stand for?

The DBS in DBS Rescue stands for Different Breed Solutions, because we are not breed specific we are tackling all "different breeds" of problems to provide impactful solutions!

How was DBS Rescue Started?

We are currently getting started as you read this blurb! With the Board of Directors decided, we are currently waiting on approval since we applied in December of 2024!

What is DBS Rescue's Mission?

Our primary mission is to save adoptable dogs from unnecessary euthanasia, help prepare them for and connect them with their forever homes. We also work to actively advocate for responsible pet ownership and hope to be able to connect a strong community of support for dogs and dog owners revolving around care, training and proper handling.

What does DBS Rescue do to help animals?

Currently we actively volunteer at Collin County Animal Services with adoptable dogs. Walking them, socializing them, loving on them and helping dogs to prepare for their forever homes, as well as performing adoption counseling and heartworm talks (Thank you Adopt-My-Heart for teaching us about Heartworms!) Adoption counseling and posting the dogs we engage with to allow potential adopters to meet and learn more about the dogs available for adoption, it also gives them a better idea if they are the right home for the dogs.

How is DBS Rescue funded?

The goal is to operate with the help of donations, partnerships, grants, events and fundraising campaigns to support the rescues efforts. Eventually we would like to offer low-cost clinics and grooming to help generate funds consistently to put towards the rescue 's efforts and offer facilities for community events and aide fellow rescues.

Does DBS Rescue adopt dogs out?

Though independently our founders volunteer as adoption counselors at Collin County Animal Services working to connect the right dogs to potential adopters as a whole, we are currently working towards a facility so we can adopt dogs out directly. Until then we are teaming up with Collin County Animal Services to Volunteer as Adoption Counselors and Foster animals.

How does DBS Rescue decide what dogs to save?

Our first focus is for adoptable dogs listed for euthanasia due to no fault of their own. Secondly dogs that have been passed over, returned, or have been in the shelter for an excessive amount of time and it is beginning to wear on their mental health and show in their temperament in what we call "kennel behaviors" which could lead to severe injuries, euthanasia or death from self-starvation. This is often found in many different breeds and this is why we are not planning to be breed specific.

What type of dog training does DBS Rescue do?

We plan to use "transformative transitional training" is the idea of dog training focused on helping shelter dogs or feral dogs adjust or transition to home life. This can include crate training, basic kibble training, and exposure to "adopted life" situations ranging from normal home sounds, and socialization with dogs/ kids, to prolonged periods sitting in office settings or public events with positive reinforcement in the form of affection, verbal praise and treats!
